Music notation (engraving)

Perfect for the musician who:

handwrites all their musical scores, but would like to take their music to the next level of professionalism

would like to produce a professional songbook, for their own satisfaction, sale or distribution to friends (NB: we can also help you with printing and binding options)

doesn't have time, patience, software or equipment to enter all their scores into a computer

knows how to play their own music, but would like help with putting it on paper (yes, we do know what an F#maj13(#11) is!)

has a basic understanding of music, but would like an expert to flesh out arrangements and produce sheet music for their songs

is looking for someone with a keen eye for detail, decades of musical and compositional experience and intuition, and flexibility and commitment to meet the needs of each individual client

INTERESTED? Here's how we can help you...

Step One: We will come to meet you anywhere in Melbourne, to discuss your needs and give you a free no-obligation written quotation.

Step Two: If you accept our quotation, we will discuss styles and fonts, and various other options available (eg. from the one score we can easily create melody line versions, guitar chord versions, full piano scores, or even orchestral arrangements). Much of this discussion can happen via email and phone.

Step Three: You then provide us with your music in whatever form is easiest for you: handwritten scraps or final scores (faxed, sent or scanned/emailed), rough recordings on tape, MIDI files, or however you can think of getting it to us. The clearer and more complete your original, the lower the cost of producing your sheet music.

At this point, we will take a 50% deposit for the work to be undertaken and will confirm the financial arrangements in writing. Visa, Bankcard, Mastercard and Diners Club facilities are available, and we accept cheques or money orders.

Step Four: Depending on your individual needs, we can email proof copies to you as PDF drafts until you're completely happy with the product, or send/fax hard copies of drafts in the mail. If you want to hear how the arrangements sound, we can create MIDI or MP3 files which we can also email through to you to hear from the convenience of your own computer!

Step Five: Once you're happy with the final product, we will provide you with a CD with the PDF files, music files (we use Sibelius 3), and MIDI files. We will also supply you with one or more 1200 dpi laser copies of each song.

The balance of payment is due within seven days of your receipt of these files and hard copies.

Step Six: If you wish for us to arrange professional printing and binding (from one copy to thousands of copies), we can present you with options at this stage.

Recording

After several years' experience making six albums of her own music in various studios (from home-based studios to the prestigious Studios 301 in Sydney Australia), as well as co-producing, playing and singing on several other people's albums, Monique has now set up a home-based studio for her own future recording.

She is now also available to engineer and record others' projects.

Perfect for professional demo recordings or smaller scale recordings without paying the earth.

The MonoMusic recording setup currently includes:

Apple MacBook Pro running Apple LogicPro 7 software

Yamaha P80 electric piano

IK Multimedia Sample Tank 2 XL software (virtual instruments)

Behringer UB1204-Pro Mixing Desk

Studio Projects C3 Multi-Pattern Microphone

Rode NT-1A Microphone

Tascam US-122 Audio/MIDI Interface

Behringer Truth B2031 Active Monitors

Sennheiser EH-1430 headphones

Recording sessions are billed at an hourly rate. Discounts apply for full day recordings or longer projects. Contact MonoMusic for more details.

In addition to engineering recording sessions, MonoMusic is able to offer the following services:

Piano (no extra hourly charge)

Female lead and backing vocals (no extra hourly charge)

Piano and choral written arrangements (extra hourly charge)

MIDI recording:

MIDI sound quality and capabilities have come a long way in the last decade. These days none but the highly trained ear can pick the difference between much sequenced instrumentation (synthesised modules which 'simulate' live instruments), and the 'real thing'.

Live recording:

However, if you want to go the extra step, MonoMusic can arrange live sessional musicians with vast experience in the following areas. These are available upon special arrangement, and additional sessional rates apply:
Acoustic and electric guitar

Male vocals, additional female vocals or choir

Drums and percussion (NB: If live, non-sequenced drums are required, off-site recording premises are available at an extra charge)

Saxophone

Violin

Other instruments on request

We can either work from your notated or tape-recorded ideas and email or send you recorded samples on CD for each step of the process. Or if you prefer to sit in on sessions or record your own instrumentation or vocals, we are available just to engineer the sessions.

Your final recordings (and indvidual sessions if required) will be burnt to a master CD for duplication.

Client samples and recommendations

For a recommendation from client Brian Quang Do regarding his latest CD Inner Light, recorded at MonoMusic studios, or to order this CD, please email Brian here.

Additional post-production services:

Graphic design and CD duplication

Once your recording is finished, we would be happy to arrange graphic design work for your CD presentation, printing of paper parts (CD booklets and jewel case intrays) and can organise duplication of short runs (less than 500 CDs) or long runs (500+ CDs) at highly competitive prices.

Songbook production

Once you've recorded your CD, especially if you've utilised MonoMusic's MIDI capacities, you might like to consider getting MonoMusic to score the music for you, for release as a songbook, or as PDF files on the final duplicated CD. Click here for more information.
